Sun 28th October: Cycle Ride to Valley Park

NICI members met at the “Big Fish” at 10:00 and cycled on the Lagan and Lough Cycle Path until Macedon Point. We then turned off the Cycle Path and went up Glas-na-braden Glen and then into Valley Park where we had a picnic lunch. Some, more energetic members then went onto Belfast Castle; the rest of us returned to the City Centre, which thankfully was downhill most of the way

Wed 19th September - Talk by Kevin Mayne, Director of CTC

Kevin Mayne, the Director of the CTC, presented an interesting talk to NICI members on what the the CTC is trying to achieve. As well as continuing to be a club for people interested in cycle-touring, it is now very much to the forefront of cycle campaigning. After the talk we went on to a local restaurant.

Sat & Sun 15th -16th September - Lifestyle Green Show,Kings Hall, Belfast

NICI Members manned a stall on both days for this event, to pass on the Cycling message. As a result of this, several new members have been recruited.

Bike Week 2007

Friday 15th June - City Cycle Ride

To kick off the Belfast Week of Cycling, NICI organised a Bike Week sponsored City Cycle Ride. Despite heavy rain most of the day, a respectable crowd turned up. The Lord Mayor kindly came out to greet us at the front on the City Hall.

Saturday 16th June - Comber Greenway Cycle

NICI members assisted Sustrans in this well attended ride, meeting at Victoria Park at 1.00pm before going on to ride the newly extended Comber Greenway.

Saturday 23rd June - Lagan Towpath

NICI members assisted the Lagan Valley Regional Park Rangers in this Bike Week sponsored ride to mark the 40th anniversary of the Towpath. The PSNI were at Shaws Bridge to highlight the need for cyclists to ride with due consideration for pedestrians in this shared path.
